Early Warning Prediction and Prevention Platform for Pests and Diseases in Horticulture

Bridging critical gaps in horticulture, our Early Warning Prediction and Prevention Platform empowers fruit (beachhead: apple) farmers through a multi-layered technology, offering proactive, data-driven insights to combat pests and diseases — boosting biodiversity and resilience from the ground up.

Our multi-layered technological framework:

The first layer focuses on Early Warning Prediction — providing earlier predictions and accommodating the critical 3-4 day delay in response time, which is often needed with biopesticides, due to microorganism activity. This ensures rapid and effective action.

The second layer emphasizes Prevention — this is where we facilitate the transition from chemical pesticides to more sustainable solutions like biopesticides and biocontrol agents, leveraging insights from our Knowledge Database.

While satellite imagery is widely used in arable crops like wheat, barley, rice… already highly digitized sectors — horticulture remains largely undigitized. The pandemic highlighted this vulnerability; while staple crops remained stable, fruit production was threatened due to reliance on expensive, manual labor. Horticulture is in urgent need of digital solutions that offer a holistic, data-driven approach to guide the industry toward beyond sustainable i.e. regenerative practices.

Combining the extensive knowledge of Fauna Smart Technologies in horticulture, crop protection, and food security together with satellite earth observation, geoinformation, and platform development, we are able to deliver tailored information to farmers to make the right decisions at the right time.

Today, we are proud to say that our work has earned the financial support of prestigious organizations, including the European Space Agency (ESA), ESA BIC DK, ESA UK, ESA the Netherlands, the Ministry of Higher Education and Science of Denmark, and numerous accelerators and other public funds.

Our products, startup, and collaborations with end users have been recognized repeatedly by an esteemed organization such as the European Association of Remote Sensing Companies (EARSC). We received multiple awards from EARSC, presented by Secretary General Emmanuel Pajot in Brussels in June 2022 and 2023. In addition, we were proud finalists for the Nordic Women in Tech Awards “Innovator of the Year” Award, in 2024, representing Denmark.

Each year, EARSC’s distinguished panel of judges celebrates the most innovative achievements in the remote sensing industry. Standing alongside industry giants like Airbus and e-Geos as finalists for the prestigious Product Award (2023) is a milestone that fills us with pride. This recognition, earned among thousands of leading companies across Europe, fuels our commitment to drive impactful change and lead the transition toward a sustainable future.

The Nordic Women in Tech Awards celebrate exceptional female role models who are transforming the tech industry. By showcasing their achievements, these awards aim to amplify their success and inspire future innovators. We are incredibly honored that Fauna Smart Technologies has been recognized as Innovator of the Year 2024 among an inspiring group of talented individuals. This recognition fuels our pride and strengthens our resolve to continue pushing the boundaries of innovation. The
