In Service of a Living Planet — A Fifty-Year Perspective
Fauna Smart Technologies was founded in 2019 in Copenhagen, Denmark — a global center for life sciences and biotechnology.
Yet the intellectual origins of the company extend further. The project began as a scientific conviction: that humanity would soon require new capabilities to manage the living systems upon which civilization depends.
The European Green Deal, the Farm-to-Fork Strategy, and the Biodiversity Strategy for 2030 signaled the beginning of a structural transition.
The COVID-19 pandemic further exposed the fragility of global systems and accelerated the recognition that resilience — not efficiency alone — would define the decades ahead. Fauna emerged within this historical moment.
By prioritizing the biosphere, humanity ultimately prioritizes itself.
Clean water, fertile soils, stable climates, and biodiversity form the foundation upon which society and the economy rest. This perspective reflects the systems thinking developed within modern sustainability science.

An Institution in the Making
Fauna was never conceived as a short-cycle technology venture. Environmental challenges unfold across decades. Institutions capable of addressing them must do the same.
